When a company or a college is sorting through applicants, your portfolio is what makes you stand out. The game industry is growing and is super competitive, making it harder to be successful. As discussed in the GameIndustry article "Your game portfolio is your greatest asset", your portfolio is where you show off what you learned and how well you can apply it to the game industry, making you unique from the other applicants; education is worthless if you cannot properly apply it. Although it is important to catch the job recruiters eye with your resume, and convince them why you stand out with your cover letter, your portfolio shows what you bring to the table. While working over this assignment I realized I need to do more to prepare myself for when it is time to apply for college or a job, and start building my portfolio up now if I want to stand out and beat the other thousands of applicants. I went further than creating some new artwork but started on a project. Roblox Studio is great studio and feeds into an amazing platform that gets young teenagers and college students headstarts in the gaming industry, even making many of them self-made millionaires. I began taking initiative in my free time to turn the work I created for this project into parts of a game. These are two of the "maps" I created, in just under a couple hours with no previous experience, showing that if you put in the time and effort you can build your portfolio. Working on a project on your free time sets you apart, and it is important to begin taking initiative starting now if you want to be successful in the gaming industry. Summary:
