As I have gotten time to experience Photoshop, as well as see what it can do, I can finally come to a conclusion about its effect on our society. Photoshop is just some harmless image editing software, right? Well, the answer is no. Photoshop is not at all harmless, in fact. As discussed in previous blogs, Photoshop is used to create unrealistic beauty standards that nobody can live up to. This then sets unreachable beauty ideals and causes people to doubt their own beauty and become insecure about their facial blemishes. In this case, yes Photoshop can be harmful. However you can't judge completely based on one way it is used, or the way it is used by certain people. It's all in the hand of the users, anything can be used in ways where it can be harmful. Take a look at this Matrix scene. This could not have possibly been done without image editing software to place all those people in the air or have so many duplicates of the same person. Photoshop does a lot of good too. It is an affordable and public image editing program that is available to everyone to use. You wouldn't believe how many movies, games, pictures, or even memes have used Photoshop. In these ways it isn't harmful and instead helps create entertainment, helping to compose funny images or create surreal scenes. Overall, the good things Photoshop brings outweigh the bad; Photoshop has become a huge part of entertainment, especially with so much online activity and use of electronics and digital products. It can be used to take out nuisances in photos that don't deal with beauty, or make adjustments so you can get across your message better. It is also used to create scenes that couldn't be created in real life. Think about all the futuristic Sci-Fi movies that you couldn't possibly create without online editing tools, such as Photoshop. This is a funny meme, or "Photoshop Troll". Photoshop is used to create a lot of funny fake images such as this one, as well as to do things such as reposition the sun in this photo. Conclusion:

Hearthstone is one of the most complex games out there and is constantly expanding. There are thousands of unlockable cards, each with a different ability and potential. Imagine the unlimited amount of combinations; there are nine heroes each with hundreds of cards to unlock. It is impossible to get bored of this game, with new cards to discover and new combinations to try. You can also do quests, tavern brawls, arena battles and all sorts of game modes. This once again shows all the different things you can do and experiment with in Hearthstone, besides trying to unlock the thousands of cards. However, the best attribute of Hearthstone is its versatility. By this, I mean its ability to perform and play between different platforms, whether it's mobile, PC, Xbox, or whatever you play on. It functions the same on all, and you can play with people on different platforms. It isn't easy to come across games that you like that are also on mobile, with the same functionality, and are just as fun. This way you can play it even more, including on the go, and play it with your friends who may play on a different system than you. Another unique thing about Hearthstone, that sets it apart from just about every other game, is the thinking required. In Hearthstone your gaming skills or lag, don't affect you, but instead, it is your ability to think ahead and set yourself up for success. It is a strategy game and takes you away from the typical violent shooter games. Anyone can win, as long as you have the best put together deck and smartest thinking. Yes, some people may have more unlocked cards, but the matchmaking is typically fair and 90 percent of the game is thinking, not just having good cards. You have to look ahead and think about what combos you can set up. You also have many boundaries and potential dangers to consider such as how many cards you have left, because your deck can only have 30 cards and you don't want to reach fatigue and be helpless. You also have to think about your amount of mana and what cards you can afford. Another thing is predicting/internalizing your opponent's moves and think about what you want to have in place for defense. In a nutshell:
This is what a typical match looks like. You can see that there are things on the side to interact with while waiting for you turn. Image of card crafting (way of obtaining specific cards you want). This is an image of a girl, before I touched it up with the spot healing brush. You can notice the stray hairs and her acne/pimples. While working with Photoshop and learning about the various tools, my favorite, and in my opinion, the most useful tool so far, has been the Spot Healing Brush. It is super easy and fun to use; you simply click or move the brush over a minor feature you do not like and it blends into the rest of the image. It's very satisfying and fun to watch these spots go at the click of a finger! It also has a remarkable impact. As discussed in my first blog post, taking away natural appearance, and creating idealistic images of people with no imperfections, can be very demoralizing to people who compare themselves with these images, and it lowers their self-esteem. However, there are times that the Spot Healing Brush can be important/beneficial in use, especially with skin blemishes. For example, you can pay to have your images in yearbooks retouched, where they take out pimples and acne, or other temporary facial blemishes. You could also wake up with a bad zit. When looking back, you wouldn't want to be distracted by those minor details, but instead see what you really looked like, besides for that day's blemishes. The Spot Healing Brush is particularly effective with blemishes and with the tap of a finger, can make it look like they were never there. This way you can see what you looked like underneath your imperfections. As said this can also be used in a harmful way, but overall it is a very useful tool in taking away blemishes, or minor details, and is very commonly used and is significant in how people view themselves. Overall it is my favorite tool because of its simplicity, but major use and impact. This is the image after I touched it up. You can see how clean her face is and how the stray hairs are gone.
